Slides and Scooters

Somehow, after grabbing lunch at Dandy Market, we ended up at Noble Park Skate Park. As to whether or not Tammy and Mase were already there or if Jeff invited them over as they live just around the corner anyway, I can’t remember. Nor can I remember the reason for Raven’s tears. That’s what happens when you don’t blog as close to the time the event happened. Me, I blog about them one year later. Sometimes even three when the nostalgia hits me hard and I’m trying to avoid doing the laundry. Although it’s funny because sometimes when I hold myself hostage with the metaphorical gun on my head forcing my hands to — in the words of Stephen King — shovel shit in front of my laptop, doing the fucking laundry is suddenly the most appealing activity in the world.

So what I’m trying to say is, I’m not very consistent when it comes to blogging. But at the same time, I remind myself to focus on why I’m doing this in the first place: for posterity. So my grandkids would look at Grandma Jan’s beautifully curated photos showing her in the best possible light at the best possible angle. Photographed by their Grandpa Jeff who’s nowhere to be seen because most, if not all, the pictures Grandma took of him turned out blurry. Although that’s not to say the fuzziness doesn’t make him look good. If anything, he looks captivating when he’s out of focus.

I should’ve gone to Specsavers.

Anyway, this day last year was when I started getting into Tarot. I thought I was just going to be an Oracle Girl. You know, with my sweetly enchanting Alice the Wonderland Oracle Cards that I was just starting to learn then. Even started reading for eager souls I call my friends. All of us flushed with excitement and cheap wine as to what the future held. (None, because I couldn’t read shit.)

But, yeah. Mase introduced me to Tarot. And as fate would have it, he had a beginner’s book sitting in his car which he let me borrow. Get my curiosity going. Before I knew it, I spent the height of COVID lockdown learning all 78 cards in my Anna K Tarot that I bought off Amazon after spending countless hours researching which deck whose art spoke to me the most.

So, yeah, that was one highlight of this day.

The other thing I remember was how glorious the sunset looked outside my passenger window as Jeff drove me and Raven home after a memorable day with such a beautiful family.
