As vintage as shoulder pads

Today’s theme, as dictated by my mood, was vintage.

So vintage that one of the tops I bought still had shoulder pads in it! But the lacework was lovely with some good quality stitching. The buttons looked antique but all the same, very unique. You know those ones gilded in gold that must’ve been all the rage back then? I could definitely see my grandma wearing it if she were still alive but she’s not anymore so on behalf of my grandma — and all the grandmas out there — I took this one for the team.

Minus the shoulder pads because I took them off.

It was me and Met-Met today. My op shop/eating buddy. While gnawing on our dinner of chicken feet last night, we suddenly decided to go op shopping today as we both weren’t working anyway. It’s been a while since we did, so we did.

To be honest, I’m not a big fan of Salvos’ new method of organising their clothes by colour. It was a bit disorientating at first because I liked it better when they were all arranged according to type where you flick through the hangers like some random rolodex until you find something that makes you want to give it a second look.

I guess it was the thrill of the hunt that probably gave me the most pleasure, as if I won them through both grit and luck. But when it’s too organised, it takes out a bit of the fun.

I still ended up buying more than I thought I would, though. Go figure.
